Prime Minister Tony Blair says the Queen has consented to dissolve parliament for a general election on May 5th.
In his official announcement, prime minister Tony Blair MP said: "I have just been to Buckingham Palace to ask the Queen to dissolve parliament, which she has graciously consented to do. There will be a general election on May 5th," said Blair. "From now until May 5th, I and my colleagues will be out across Britain talking to people about our driving mission for a third term."
