FTSE ends week down

The benchmark FTSE 100 ended this week down 23.70 points at 4,492.20 after UK stocks fell, paced by Lloyds TSB and WPP Group.

Lloyds TSB lost 12.5p to 447.75p after an analyst at ING Financial Markets cut his recommendation on the stock to "sell" from "hold". WPP fell 28.5p to 602p. The advertising and marketing company dropped on concern this year's recovery in the advertising industry may not extend to 2005. Avis Europe shed 5p to 94p after the car-rental company reported a full-year net loss of 51.3m euros, compared with net income of 80.8m euros a year earlier.
