The majority of consumers support an industry solution for pensions, according to a survey by the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
The ABI’s survey of public views about pensions and savings – Personal Accounts: What Consumers Want – reveals strong support for the basic features of the proposed personal accounts. It says 65% of respondents said employers should be required to contribute to the proposed personal accounts, as it would encourage individuals to save for retirement, while 12% felt employers should not be compelled to contribute.
