FTSE recovers from weekend turmoil

Antofagasta made the biggest gains, up 37.5 points, or 4.8%, to 818p, followed by Vedanta, which gained 96 points, or 4.67%, to £21.50. Persimmon added 39.5 points, or 4.16%, to 988.5p, Friends Provident climbed 6.9 points, or 4.15%, to 173.1p, and Schroders NV jumped 45 points, or 3.62%, to £12.87. Tesco shares dropped 10.25 points, or 2.21%, to 453.75p, SABMiller fell 17 points, or 1.18%, to £14.19 and Vodafone lost 2.1 points, or 1.17%, to 177.6p.
