The FTSE 100 Index has fallen 6.4 points, or 0.1%, to 6001.1 points this morning after Friends Provident announced a drop in 2005 profit.
Friends Provident has lost 3% to 209p after posting a 7.7% drop in profit for 2005. Capita has also lost 2.6% to 457.5p after chairman Rod Aldridge resigned. Aldridge is the first casualty of a dispute into £14m of loans made to the Labour Part, citing in a regulatory news release from the company "spurious" claims the company benefitted from what he terms a "personal decision" to lend money. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average dropped 6.11 points to 16,489.37 points led by brokerages and steelmakers after some investors judged their recent gains excessive. Daiwa Securities fell 54...
