The FTSE 100 Index rose 19 points, or 0.3%, to 5,684 points today, led by Rentokil.
Pest control group Rentokil gained 4.54% to 149.75p after it was raised to "overweight" at Morgan Stanley from a previous "underweight" recommendation. Crude prices hovered at the $71 a barrel level, lifting oil majors BP up 0.25% to 605p, Cairn Energy up 2.12% to 1,975p and BG Group up 2.11% to 676.50p. Rising commodity prices led Rio Tinto 0.07% higher to 2,799p. Meanwhile, British Airways lost 5.91% to 346p after it emerged the Office of Fair Trading and the US Department of Justice are investigating alleged cartel activity involving British Airways and other airlines.
