Trevor Matthews assumes CII presidency

Incoming Friends Provident CEO Trevor Matthews has been elected as the new CII president, replacing the Lord Hunt of Wirral.

Matthews, Standard Life’s former UK life and pensions chief, has pledged to use his 12-month term to champion professional industry-wide standards. “My presidential theme is: ‘Professionalism – bringing it to life’,” Matthews says. “We work in a noble profession and my aim during my year as president is to adopt an ambassadorial role to remind people of the value of what they do. “I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting out there and meeting the members, finding out what occupies their thoughts and having a good, constructive exchange of views."
