ITV rumours push FTSE higher

The FTSE 100 has ended the day up 5.1 points, or 0.08%, to 6,570.5, as miners improved throughout the day.

Rio Tinto posted the biggest gains with a rise of 4.11% to £36.75, closely followed by Vedanta Resources which climbed 1.71% to £14.90, while Kelda Group advanced 2.35% to £10. ITV also performed well with a rise of 3.93% to 119.1p, on rumours BSkyB might sell its stake of the company, while Experian added 2.87% to 628p, although gains were limited by Tate & Lyle which slipped 1.39% to 602p. However, Land Securities was the biggest loser with a fall of 1.85% to £18.58, closely followed by Persimmon which slipped 1.54% to £13.46, while Compass Group dropped 1.51% to 374.5p, and Home Re...
