LV= DVD evokes memories of The Widow's Story

A DVD promoting income protection (IP) cover and made available to advisers may come under the FSA's spotlight after it evoked memories of a controversial video banned for its "scaremongering" tactics.

The Day Our Lives Changed was this week unveiled by provider LV= and tells the true story of the impact a car crash had on the family of a former broker who had no IP. It has reminded advisers of a video widely referred to as The Widow’s Story - a fictional account illustrating the potential consequences of failing to buy protection - which was banned shortly after the FSA replaced the SIB in 1997.
