Rosie Winterton's unexpected appointment as pensions minister this week has roused concern among providers alarmed by her lack of experience.
Winterton, who replaced Mike O’Brien as part of a cabinet reshuffle, has been minister of state at both the Department of Transport and the Department of Health but has no Government-related pension history. Providers including Standard Life, Aegon UK and AXA Sun Life agree Mike O’Brien had done a good job in the post but claim issues including means testing and public subsidies for personal accounts remain unresolved.
