The FTSE100 closed a volatile week up 40.7 to 6091.4, boosted by travel stocks.
These included FirstGroup (up 25.50) on news fellow bus and rail company Go Ahead reported strong results for the year and British Airways (up 8.50). However, miners finished down on the back of falling copper prices. The US market had a less than impressive start with the Dow Jones down 9 at 12,898. There were strong results from names including American Express and Goodyear. However, there was less good news from Microsoft which released a poor trading statement. IFAonline
