Land Registry reveals house prices online

An important online tool has gone live in the shape of the Land Registry's database of 19 million English and Welsh properties.

For a £2 fee the Land Register Online offers title plans, registers of ownership and, where available, property prices. Increased transparency of pricing is one of LRO’s stated objectives, with the Registry stating it hopes better access to prices paid for properties will help stop people paying over the odds. Today’s launch follows trials carried out since March 2003, a spokesperson says.
