The Association of British Insurers is backing calls for the government to remove tax disincentives for employers who provide occupational health services.
The comments at the ABI’s health conference today follow a report published by Norwich Union last week (See previous IFAonline story: Tax incentives call to reduce long-term absence), which revealed the incentives for employers to engage with staff at an earlier stage of an illness are weak. The ABI has today released research which shows employers are increasingly aware of the benefits of occupational health and regard it as an effective way of keeping staff fit and in work.
