Interest rates and Isas boost savings mood

Less than a quarter of adults are in the mood to spend after an increase in interest rates and the continuation of ISAs seem to have boosted the appeal of saving.

In the latest ‘MoneyMood’ survey carried out by Legal & General at the end of January 65% of adults said they were in the mood to save, the highest level for a year and equal to the highest level recorded during the three years of the survey. The latest research shows an increase of 14% from December, while the mood to spend has hit its lowest level ever at just 22% of the 1,000 adults questioned on behalf of the insurer by BMRB.
