FTSE falls as traders await Fed decision

In London, shares dropped slightly in early trading and the FTSE 100 was down 21.2 points, or 0.33%, to 6,285.1.

SABMiller made the biggest gains and added 10 points, or 0.75%, to £13.38, followed by Scottish & Southern Energy, which gained 10 points, or 0.71%, to £14.19. BP shares were up 4 points, or 0.7%, to 571.5p, Cadbury Schweppes added 4 points, or 0.7%, to 579.5p and Unilever gained 11 points, or 0.69%, to £16.00. Alliance & Leicester shares made the biggest losses, down 32 points, or 3.32%, to 931.5p. Northern Rock followed with a loss of 21.5 points, or 3.2%, to 650.5p while British Land dropped 21 points, or 1.72%, to £12.02. On Wall Street, shares showed little change and the main Dow ...
