Zurich may drop life brands - papers 20th August

ZURICH FINANCIAL SERVICES may drop the brand names of its UK life divisions, says the Times , once it merges Allied Dunbar and Eagle Star into one legal entity later this year.

First-half profits reported yesterday rose 93% in the last six months to £800m largely as a result of general insurance business but a spokesman for the Zurich said the merging of Allied Dunbar, Eagle Star and Zurich UK was part of a long-running plan to streamline the group. The spokesman is quoted as saying: "There are many brands within the Zurich empire and we would like to reduce that to one global brand over time."
