FTSE keeps strong on banks' dividend reports

The FTSE rose 154 points, or 2.66%, to 5941.6p this afternoon as reports of increased dividends to Barclays and Lloyds TSB shareholders continued to lift the market.

Barclays rose 32.5 points, or 7.6%, to 460p while Lloyds TSB rose 28.5 points, or 7.2%, to 424.25p. Cable and Wireless and BT made the only losses as Cable and Wireless fell 0.3 points, or 0.18%, to 170.4p and BT fell 0.25 points, or 0.11%, to 234.5p on news its mobile phone users have hit an all time low. The Dow Jones fell 28.77 points, or 0.23%, to 12348.21c as Honeywell International continued to fall, dropping 1.47 points, or 2.56%, to 56.04c. Intel Corporation fell 0.35 points, or 1.71%, to 19.94c. JPMorgan Chase rose 0.64 points, or 1.5%, to 43.25c while Hewlett Packard rose 0...
