Treasury committee to probe McCarthy and Sants

The Treasury Committee will question the FSA about its role in the Northern Rock crisis next month, according to a statement.

The MPs will probe the body’s chairman, Sir Callum McCarthy, and its chief executive, Hector Sants, on October 9. The committee says the questioning will represent the “next step in its work on Ffnancial stability and transparency”. The committee originally planned the date to take evidence on the FSA’s annual report and says it may question the report and the regulator’s wider work. The MPs also expect to question the Treasury in relation to stability and transparency at a later date.
