A number of insurance comparison websites are failing to provide adequate information about the level of excesses applying to policies, an FSA review concludes.
Sites also need to make clearer the assumptions they make about consumer needs and circumstances when obtaining quotes. Additionally the FSA says, in a small number of cases, aggregator firms’ advertising could give consumers a “misleading” expectation of its market coverage and how much they could save on premiums. However, the regulator’s latest paper, a follow-up to its May review of insurance comparison firms, does note “significant improvements” in the sector.
