Wall St slide sends FTSE down 2% early

The FTSE100 is more than 2% down this morning after renewed concerns for US financials sent Wall Street sharply lower overnight. London's blue chip index is currently 113.90 points (2.07%) down to 5391.70.

Pub company Enterprise leads the losses so far, 4.4% behind to 325.75. The London Stock Exchange Group has not opened much better, down 4.31% to 721. A 46% rise in first-half profit has not been enough for investors in oil services group John Wood, falling 4.25% to 427.75. Miners are also struggling early, with Ferrexpo 4.1% lower to 257. Shopping centre owner Liberty International is higher on takeover speculation, 4.29% ahead to 985.50. In New York, financials were stung on Monday despite a small rebound for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The Dow Jones IA closed 241.81 points (2.08%) lowe...
