The Conservatives have announced plans to eradicate the ‘bias' shown against women who contribute towards the state pensions system.
Shadow work and pensions secretary David Willetts today said women would be recognised for the work they do at home and still receive pension contributions as a result, adding: "The pension system is biased against women. It was designed for the days when men earned their pensions by work and women by marriage." Willetts said a Tory Government would ensure a system which is far more suited to a modern world and which he believes better reflects the way individuals live today.
