The FTSE100 had a choppy start to the week rising to almost 6090 before 8.00am but then falling to 6059.70, just above the level at which it closed on Friday.
Schroders rose 57 points, or 5.65%, to 1066 while Indian airline Kingfisher rose 6.4 points, or 5.2% to 129.5 on news it will provide package tours. RBS is currently the biggest loser, down 4.43, on news of a £12bn rights issue. Meanwhile, Kazakhmys, the miner, fell 110 points, or 6.4%, to 1610 after silver fell 48.5 cents to $17.82 an ounce and copper slipped 2.4 cents to $3.888 yesterday. Fellow miner Vedanta Resources dropped 52 points, or 2.17%, to 2348. The Dow Jones rose 228.87 points, or 1.81%, to 12849.36 as Caterpillar rose 6.69 points, or 8.51%, to 85.28.
