Regulation of general insurance could lead to the FSA flexing its muscles and claiming ‘an early scalp' a review of the sector by Deloitte suggests.

The FT says the conclusion is based on analysis of FSA motives in seeking to stamp its authority over an area it has previously not controlled. ”The FSA are determined to demonstrate that they mean business on this. If a company is not taking regulation seriously then I'm sure the FSA will act. If someone is just paying lip-service to the rules, they would regret it,” says David Rush, partner at Deloitte.
