Miners weigh on early FTSE

Struggling mining and resources stocks followed the lead of US counterparts overnight and dragged the FTSE100 lower in early trading this morning, currently 0.87% behind to 4127.56.

Lonmin leads the losses for the sector so far, diving 59.5 points, or 9.03%, to 599.50 - while Anglo-Australian giant BHP Billiton has fallen 64 points, or 6.04%, to 996. Oil stocks are also among the major decliners as prices slide below $44 a barrel. In financials, Royal Bank of Scotland Group is once again at lower, down 3.88%. Meanwhile, Clive Cowdery's new Resolution vehicle is set to list next week with £660m in assets. The company is set to acquire distressed financial assets in the UK and Europe.
