Ministers are considering suing the two directors who negotiated Sir Fred Goodwin's £16.9m pension amid claims they may have misled RBS executives and the Government over the payment, according to The Telegraph .
Lord Myners, the City minister, said yesterday that the decision to pay Sir Fred his full pension from the age of 50 was "quite extraordinary" and "clearly contrary" to the principles stipulated by the Government. He named Sir Tom McKillop, the former RBS chairman, and Bob Scott, another director, as those responsible for negotiating the deal and indicated that they may have acted improperly by creating an "elaborate ruse".
