Six in ten trustees sitting on defined contribution (DC) pension fund boards think their members are unaware of how much their pension is worth, research suggests.
A study by Aon Consulting found while 80% of trustees were confident they understood their projected pension at retirement, only 39% felt the same to be true of their members. However, when trustees were asked which key challenges were facing their pension funds, communication with members came out second to investment as the most important issue. The vast majority - 77% - ranked keeping investment options suitable for members as the most important issue.
