Investors apathetic to poor performance of funds

Research by JPMorgan Fleming suggests a third of UK investors never bother to switch out of poorly performing funds, with up to a fifth of those surveyed saying it was because they took a long-term view.

Almost the same number, some 16% of respondents, suggested they did not switch because they “never review” the performance of their funds. The flip-side of these figures is the suggestion that a third of investors do take action to move their money, while about a quarter of investors check their funds at least once a month. Some 7% check their funds on a weekly basis, and 3% on a daily basis. JPMF says the finding that 16% of investors never check their funds for performance is “astonishing”. The asset manager adds the long-term view should not be used as an excuse not to review...
