FTSE continues to power past 5,600

The FTSE100 has consolidated its position above 5,600 in a positive Friday opening, currently 24.80 points (0.44%) higher to 5626.

Petrofac leads the way so far after it acquired Caltec, up 4.35% to 648. Fellow oil services provider John Wood Group is also ahead, adding 3.35% to 470.50. The London Stock Exchange Group has started well, 3.61% higher to 789.50. Another poor opening for pub group Enterprise Inns, 4.45% lower to 300.75. Miners are also sluggish, with Eurasian 1.96% behind to 1001. In New York, Wall Street enjoyed stellar gains on Thursday on the surprise strong gross domestic product rise, with lower oil prices also boosting investor confidence.
