FTSE falls as Q2 results below expectations

In London, shares fell after several poor trading reports came to light and the FTSE 100 fell by 125.7 points, or 1.9%, to 6,498.7.

Reckitt Benckiser shares saw the biggest gains, up 31 points, or 1.14%, to £27.48. Imperial Tobacco gained 18 points, or 0.78%, to £23.13, followed by Yell Group, up 3.25 points, or 0.69%, to 472.5p. Man Group shares added 4 points, or 0.66%, to 613.5p and Barclays shares climbed 3.5 points, or 0.48%, to 738.5p. British Energy Group made major losses by the end of trading, down 24 points, or 4.5%, to 509p. Old Mutual shares fell 6.9 points, or 3.93%, to 168.7p, and Lonmin shares lost 145 points, or 3.88%, to £35.90. On Wall Street, markets fell in early trading after further reports ...
