Schemes which earn a proposed pension quality mark could benefit from longer waiting times for new joiners once auto-enrolment comes into effect, says James Purnell.
Speaking at a National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) seminar on the design of personal accounts, the Minister for Pensions Reform says he was interested in the NAPF’s proposal for a ‘good workplace pension’ quality mark so employees can easily recognise companies which offer high quality schemes. He says the government is keen to see this happen, although he warns it is the responsibility of the pensions industry to develop further details and to ultimately establish a quality mark.
