Lack in pensions sharing orders causing pensions underclass

A large amount of women in the UK are not taking advantage of pensions sharing orders in divorce, according to Killik & Co.

The stock broking firm says the failure of women to arrange pensions sharing orders is causing a pensions underclass despite much publicity on their introduction in December 2000. Divorce figures from the Department for Constitutional Affairs reveal 650,000 divorces since the new rule at the turn of the century, with a mere 6819 cases involving a pension sharing order over the same time frame.
