FTSE falls again after catering blip

The FTSE 100 fell sharply again today closing down 22 points, or 0.43%, to 5,142.10, as concerns over the investigation at Compass sent the caterer to the bottom of the pile.

Compass closed down 10.75p, or 5.79%, to 175p, while mining stocks were no better as fears over commodity prices sent prices lower. Rio Tinto dropped 57p, or 2.68%, to 2073p and Antofagasta slipped 33p, or 2.3%, to 1400p. Elsewhere Rentokil closed down 3.5p, or 2.25%, to 151.75p, after Gerry Robinson said he was withdrawing his interest in the group after talking to shareholders. In good news PartyGaming ended positively higher, climbing 8p, or 10.26%, to 86p, after its trading update, while insurers were also on good form after Legal & General climbed 3p, or 2.92%, to 105.75 after i...
