The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries has raised concerns the Financial Services Authority's proposal to ‘confirm' industry guidance will hinder its ability to criticise the regulator.
In its response to the FSA’s discussion paper, AMI says its members have raised concerns FSA confirmation of industry guidance could change the relationship between the trade body and the regulator. It states: “Currently, we are free to engage and, if need be, constructively criticise the regulator. What might happen to this relationship if a trade body needed to gain FSA’s support for industry guidance?
