Publicity will be the key feature to informing consumers about post pensions simplification day on 6 April 2006, suggests Axa, while trust will need to be regained in the pensions industry.
Speaking at the SOFA Update Conference 2004 in Birmingham today, George Houston, Axa technical sales manager, says going forward, simplification will be determined by the amount of publicity that transpires. One of the examples he presented looked at the knock-on effect Andrew Marr, political editor for the BBC, had on pension sales after several highly publicised television interviews relating to the Turner report in October. Houston says sales for particular pensions schemes focused on by Marr increased by as much as 93% thanks to his coverage. He adds people within the industry ...
