Investors took a cautious approach when London markets opened, with the FTSE 100 down 28.4 points (0.58%) to 4,841.
Old Mutual climbed 4.4p (6.06%) to 77p as the financial sector continued to recover from a tough week, while HBOS added 8.7p (5.11%) to 178.8p. British Airways shares dropped 12p (6.74%) to 166.1p while Petrofac Ld shares slid 34p (5.86%) to 546.5p. US trading was dour over uncertainty about the House of Representative’s Friday vote on a revised financial bail-out plan, with the Dow Jones slumping 348.22 points (3.22%) to 10,482.85.
