Scottish Life has backed calls for defined contribution schemes to take more responsibility for its investment strategy.
It follows a report published by the Pensions Institute in April, which revealed 90% of DC members accept the default investment option and yet 69% of the pension professionals surveyed believe typical DC investment arrangements fall short of most members needs. Scottish Life says the report confirms its own analysis that a properly governed default fund, with appropriate investment choice and clear communication for members, are key ingredients which are often missing in private sector pension schemes.
