Positive Solutions' chief executive Jim Reeve has hit out at the financial advice industry for making "no effort" to attract fresh talent to the sector.
Reeve says firms have failed to put in place business plans that would enable them to recruit high-calibre graduates and accuses some advisers of taking only a "short-term view" on their futures. National IFA Positive Solutions this year outlined plans to boost adviser numbers by 500 before 2010 via its Apprenticeship Scheme, which was launched nationwide in November. The Aegon-owned, 1,100 member firm is well on its way to achieving that target, Reeve says, adding the company's Learning Academy has already trained more than 120 of its member advisers to either chartered or diploma stat...
