Professionals, office workers and those in managerial roles are more likely to claim on their income protection cover because of a need for long-term support with psychiatric help, suggests data presented by Norwich Union Healthcare.
Claims statistics gathered by NUH during 2004 are broken into occupational and claims splits, to reveal manual workers are more likely to need to claim on their income protection policies because they are unable to work as a result of cardiovascular or orthopaedic illnesses. Similarly, the study of over 4,500 recent claimants found 67% of those claiming for psychiatric reasons were more likely to be office workers where little or no travel was required.
