Almost 70% of employees believe they will take up auto-enrolment into an occupational pension from 2012, government research claims.
A department for work and pensions study revealed workers were aware of the importance of saving into a pension and 64% said auto-enrolment was an "attractive option". Pensions reform minister Rosie Winterton says: "We are all living longer, healthier lives, with increasing expectation for our lifestyles in retirement. But we know that there are around 7 million people not saving enough for retirement, which is why we introduced these reforms.
