Advisers are taking an increasingly positive attitude towards professionalism, compared to a more sceptical view seen when the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) consultation was first announced.
The findings come as part of a survey by Ernst & Young to gauge support for CII and Personal Finance Society proposals to raise professional standards. A large majority of financial advisers and other professionals support the creation of a single professional standards board, according to the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). A huge 95% of those polled also agreed that a single set of professional standards, applying to all advisers regardless of their professional body, would be a good idea.
