Nearly a quarter of pensioners believe they do not have enough money for retirement and are considering either selling their home or taking in a lodger, claims research from Prudential.
The report reveals drastic measures are being considered by some pensioners in order to afford to live in retirement, with around one in five concerned they will have to sell their home to make ends meet. In the survey of 893 semi or fully retired pensioners, carried out by YouGov on behalf of Prudential, 17% of those with spare rooms said they would consider renting the room out. A further 5% think they may have to move to a cheaper area, while 4% would be prepared to move abroad in order to have a comfortable old age, despite the fact 74% of the pensioners surveyed say they are attache...
