I wouldn't touch NPSS with a barge pole - Frank Field

Frank Field has said that were he in charge of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) he would not touch the NPSS with "a barge pole."

Giving evidence to the Work and Pensions Select Committee earlier this week Field, who has put forward his own proposals for a Universal State Pension (USP) said: “Any fool can create an NPSS scheme which covers 75% of the population and many fools have. This [the USP] is a scheme which covers 100% of the population.” Field said if the government were truly wedded to the idea of Lord Tuner’s NPSS scheme it would be better advised to hand over the running of it to the insurance industry to avoid accusations of mis-selling.
