The FTSE fell 42.5 points, or 0.73%, to 5811p this morning as British Airways dropped 10.5 points, or 3.96%, to 254.5p. The airline said its profit margin will fall this year due to rising fuel costs and a slowing economy.
London Stock Exchange Group fell 44 points, or 3.26%, to 1304p. International Power rose 18.5 points, or 5.12%, to 379.5p after it reported a 17% rise in annual profits. Meanwhile, British Energy Group rose 18 points, or 3.29%, to 565p. The Dow Jones rose 41.19 points, or 0.34%, to 12254.99c as Microsoft Corporation led gains. The computer software provider rose 0.52 points, or 1.92%, to 28.12c. DuPont rose 0.87 points, or 1.87%, to 47.3c.
