The UK's state pension ranks the worst in Europe, according to research by employee benefit consultant Aon Consulting.
The report focuses on the strains European pension systems place on the economy, employers and the population of each EU country. It shows the UK’s state pension system comes bottom of a table of 25 countries and highlights the amount of retirement income, or replacement rate, falls far below other countries. Retired people in the UK receive less than two thirds of their final salary as their pension, compared to people in Sweden, who receive more than their final salary.
