Teenagers believe no need to repay credit - papers 14th Feb

One in 20 teenagers does not believe money borrowed on a credit card needs to be repaid, according to a study conducted by the Personal Finance Education Group, reports the Financial Times .

Using a sample group of more than 1,000 teenagers aged 14 to 18, the PFEG research also found by the time they were 17, over half had already been in debt and 90% worried about their money. Credit and store cards are the biggest cause of debt among teenagers, according to the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), says the paper. Although it is not possible to acquire a credit card until the age of 18, cash cards can be obtained at 16 and prepay cards at 13.
