The FTSE100 has pushed ahead in afternoon trading despite another sluggish start on Wall Street.
At 3.25pm, London’s blue chip index was edging back to the 4,000 barrier – up 120.67 points, or 3.13% to 3,982.06. It’s not all good news however, with insurers once again at the forefront of losses. Aviva has dived 15.86% and Prudential has plummeted 10.33%. The Autonomy Corporation leads the charge, 12.03% ahead. Wall Street has opened lower on Friday after declines in both US housing starts and building permits for September. The Dow Jones IA is currently 55.84 points lower, or 0.62%, to 8,923.42.
