Pre-emption rules should help small businesses - papers 16th May

SMALL, FAST-GROWING companies should find it easier to raise money on the UK stock market under new guidelines issued on Monday, reports The Financial Times.

According to the paper, the Pre-Emption Group, a committee of investors and company executives formed last year, has set out 21 principles to govern companies seeking to raise money by issuing shares to fresh investors. The new principles are designed to encourage greater dialogue between companies and their investors and to urge shareholders to be more flexible when asked to waive their right of first refusal to such shares.
