Annuity rates have improved during the first half of 2007, according to figures from The Annuity Bureau.
The research found men aged 60 retiring today on a level annuity would get a 3% higher annuity than those who retired in January 2007 (£6510 Norwich Union). Norwich Union is currently dominating the level single life rates taking over from Legal & General which topped the charts at the start of the year. Married couples are doing even better, with a 5% improvement in joint life rates since January (for a couple aged 60 seeking RPI escalation), compared to people who retired in January 2007 (£3539 Legal & General).
