The FTSE 100 has fallen 12.4 points, or 0.23%, to 5,486.5, with GlaxoSmithKline leading the decline after US regulators asked for new warnings to be put on asthma medications.
GlaxoSmithKline has fallen 71p, or 4.74%, to 1,426p, as dealers said they were concerned the warning would hit sales of GSK's asthma treatments Advair and Serevent. Shares in online poker site PartyGaming have also fallen 0.5p, or 0.51%, to 97.5p, after Empire Online said bid talks between the two companies had ended and announced plans to sue its larger rival. Empire said it was taking action for damage caused when PartyGaming decided to ring-fence its own poker players from those of four other Web sites, including Empire, that used its software platform to power their own poker rooms. ...
