The benchmark FTSE 100 is currently up about 30 points to 4,444 after UK stocks rose paced by Antofagasta and Xstrata.
Antofagasta, a miner, rose 63p to 899p. Xstrata, one of the world's biggest coal exporters, advanced 30.5p to 658p. Compass Group gained 8.5p to 352.5p. The caterer reported fiscal first-half pretax profit before amortization and one-time charges rose 5.2% from the year-ago period to £283m after it had gained contracts in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa.
